Meet some of the people who connected with new opportunities through OASIS in 2013

Margie Hobby with her student
Michael Colabufo in exercise class
Joan Valdes with kids in CATCH Healthy Habits program
Margie Hobby helped her student find her voice as an OASIS tutor. Its one way Margie has stayed active and connected after retirement. "I do a lot of volunteer work, but this is the one that I really really love." Barbara Bluiett, a Connections instructor in Indianapolis, loves to see people's faces light up as they take charge of their computers and cell phones. She says it feels like she is "contributing to something bigger."
At 38, Michael Colabufo had a heart attack and struggled to stay healthy. Through exercise programs at OASIS Syracuse, he lost 20 pounds and reduced his cholesterol with his change in lifestyle.
Talking with Joan Valdes, you’d hardly know she’s retired. She takes classes at OASIS, exercises and works with groups of children as a CATCH Healthy Habits volunteer through OASIS in Escondido.
