Volunteer!

Join our friendly corps of volunteers

Volunteers are the heart and soul of our program. Share your skills and talents, support successful aging and meet new friends. In addition to tutoring children who are learning to read, volunteers represent OASIS at community events and help run the center on a daily basis. This lecture by Dr. Sandra Schroeder provides a glimpse into ancient women-honoring cultures that existed in Old Europe, Anatolia, the near and middle east, and Africa. View evocative images of what appears to be the sacred feminine found in numerous archeological sites. Consider the herstory, theory and evidence put forth by scholars, and listen to discussions of this topic from experts drawn from film clips. Wednesday, October 15, 1-2:30pm.

Spaceport America: From the Earth to the Sky - Day Trip (Class #112)
Take a trip through history and into the future! Stop in Truth or Consequences and hear fascinating stories about the area's more colorful characters. Travel past Elephant Butte Dam, then embark on the Jornada del Muerto, or the "Journey of the Deadman" as we head to the 18,000-acre site of Spaceport America: the future home of the personal and commercial spaceflight industry. A guided tour of the infrastructure of the Spaceport America includes the airfield, spaceport operations center, fuel storage complex, and the iconic terminal hangar facility.  Monday, October 20, 8am-6pm.

NEW CLASS ADDED!

Improving Quality of Sleep with Yoga Therapy proved so popular that we have scheduled additional sessions with Jim Reale on November 5 & 19 (class #115).
Make changes in your lifestyle and perform a short yoga practice at home that incorporates simple movement, specialized breathing and relaxation techniques before bedtime. This course includes a combination of education, discussion, guided yoga practice and handouts to use at home.
