“Through photography children share their heartfelt feelings,” expressed Ms. Solomon. “Their hopes and dreams captured in quiet moments tell a story that few adults can imagine. When you show children that you care about what they wish for in life, it builds self-esteem. ‘Pictures of Hope’ is a fourteen-city program this year and I am so very proud to work with Jim Butler Chevrolet to help children living in Gateway180. The children’s photographs will express their heart. Their photo assignment to photograph their ‘hopes and dreams’ is life-changing.”
OASIS tutors will offer one-on-one help to encourage the children. Now in its 25th year, the OASIS Intergenerational Tutoring
program promotes literacy with a proven approach to help high-need children read at grade level. Tutors are trained to draw out the children, discover what they are interested in and provide the individual attention that builds confidence and success.
The children at Gateway180 will see their "Pictures of Hope" cards for the first time at a celebration and Meet the Young Artist Reception at Jim Butler Chevrolet on October 20. During the holiday season from Thanksgiving through Christmas every customer who purchases a new vehicle from Jim Butler Chevrolet will be given the “Pictures of Hope” greeting cards as a gift. A matching donation will be given to the shelter from Jim Butler Chevrolet.
