Share your love of reading with a child, become a tutor, mentor and friend.
The Intergenerational Tutoring Program pairs adults age 50 and older with children in grades K-4 to promote success in reading andl learning. You will help them build self-esteem and do better in school. Volunteers are needed to spend one hour a week with the same child throughout the school year.
- No teaching experience is required
- Free training is provided
- Hours are flexible for vacations and appointments
- Choose the school where you prefer to tutor
This is a great way to get involved in your community and help children get a better start in school. We are always interested in talking to new people interested in learning more about this opportunity. These programs are offered in cooperation with North Shore School District 112, serving the communities of Highland Park, Highwood and Fore Sheridan; Wheeling School District 21; and Des Plaines Consolidated School District 62.
Our tutoring programs take place each fall. Additional information about our 2012 tutoring programs and registration will appear in our fall trimester catalog.
