Jacob A. Mahler, St. Louis' "oldest and best known dancing master" began teaching dance at age 11 in his father's dance academy. In 1875, at age 17, he took over the business. In 1906 he built his own splendid ballroom and residence at 4911 Washington, which was on the outskirts of St. Louis at the time, but accessible by trolley. In 1910 he became internationally known due to his publication of "The Ostende." You can dance in Mahler's Ballroom with OASIS on July 31! Call 314.862.4859 x 24. #stl250
