OASIS has been a part of the Cleveland community since 1983, offering lifelong learning and service opportunities for adults age 50 and older. In recent years we have increased our efforts to reach a broad audience by partnering with community organizations. Unfortunately, due to declining revenue in these challenging times, we no longer have the resources to maintain the OASIS center at Parmatown. As a result, the OASIS center closed in December 2009.
We will continue to offer several volunteer opportunities. The OASIS Intergenerational Mentoring program will continue in the Parma City, Akron, Cuyahoga Falls and Wadsworth school districts. We will also offer computer classes in several locations through support from the AT&T Foundation.
We thank our staff in Cleveland - Dan Magrey, Debbie Morris and Joan Steigerwald - for their leadership an commitment, and our loyal volunteers - Mary Dejak, Rita Grady, Ann McFadden and Loretta Weber for making OASIS a welcoming place. Special thanks to Macy's for their support and the beautiful home they have provided for the center, and to Mature Services for their many years of support in Northeast Ohio. And most of all, we are grateful to all the community partners, donors, instructors, volunteers and participants who have embraced our programs to enrich the lives of mature adults.
Sincerely,
Marcia Kerz
