CATCHing Up with the Mayor of Atlanta

In Summer 2013, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, the Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students, First Book, Jumpstart for Young Children, CATCH Healthy Habits Atlanta, and the Corporation for National and Community Service, partnered with the Children’s Museum of Atlanta to host the Let’s Read, Let’s Move event to kick off the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club.
CATCH volunteers and staff join Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed to promote summer reading and fitness at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta
CATCH Healthy Habits Atlanta played a major role in this event. CATCH volunteers Dianne Solomon and Rosa Wannamaker engaged children in several fitness activities, and staffed a display table that featured examples of healthy food choices for children and their parents.  The event was also part of the First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama’s summer initiative to create opportunities for Americans to use service as a tool to promote physical activity, healthy eating, and to prevent losing academic ground during the summer.
