Have Fun. Help Kids. Get Healthy!
CATCH Healthy Habits Atlanta

CATCH Health Habits is a program that lets you help children learn the benefits of healthy eating and physical activity, and maybe pick up a healthy habit yourself.  Each week, you and other adults age 50+ will team up with children ages 5-10 to encourage healthier eating and physical activity. Each class includes a half-hour of physical activity, a healthy snack and education about good nutrition. Kids learn that snacks such as ‘ants on a log’ (a celery stick with low-fat cream cheese and raisins) can be both fun and delicious. You’ll learn more about nutrition and making healthier food choices. It’s a Win-Win for all!

Meetings take place at area schools, YMCAs and Boys & Girls Clubs, and we’ll provide training.

We’d love to have you participate. Both direct service and capacity building volunteers are needed.  Direct service volunteers work directly with the children at the different partner sites.  Capacity building volunteers work behind the scenes – marketing the program, recruiting volunteers, data entry and more.

Meet some of our volunteers!

Leslie Stewart Because of my personal emphasis on a healthy lifestyle, I became involved in CATCH Healthy Habits.  The program is so much fun. Working with the children and adult volunteers brings me joy.  I learned to make ants-on-a-log, which I enjoy regularly as a healthy afternoon snack.

Flo Gaines                                    Because of my love for kids, I joined CATCH Healthy Habits to become more knowledgeable about what snacks were healthier for them.  This program gives one an entirely new outlook about how to stay healthy daily by eating and preparing the proper food. I recommend this program for adults 50+ because it will help them to eat healthier to prevent high blood pressure.

Lissa Jackson (right in red shirt, joined by volunteers Jackie Summerville and Dianne Solomon)       I joined CATCH Healthy Habits because of my interest in a short-term volunteer opportunity. This program is a very good plan to help kids learn better nutrition and have fun playing. As an adult 50+, one can help kids learn better nutrition without being preachy and get to play grandparent without the worry!
