CATCH Healthy Habits is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia Foundation.

Make a difference in the life of a child – and your own –
through CATCH Healthy Habits in Atlanta

Do you like working with children? Like working in a team? Then join CATCH Healthy Habits, a program where adults age 50 + and children age 5-10 learn together the benefits of healthy eating and exercise.
The children and adults have a lot of fun as they learn together how to stay healthy and fit. Volunteers work together in teams of four, so you are never by yourself. The Atlanta Area Agency on Aging RSVP Program is the local sponsor of this program. All training and class materials are provided free of charge.
CATCH Healthy Habits is a wonderful way to improve your health and celebrate healthy living in your community.

Meet some of our volunteers

Here's the Army Fuqua Boys & Girls Club CATCH Healthy Habits Team (from l to r) Suzanne Hickman, Susan Roberts and Dawn Menear. These ladies travel 90+ miles weekly from Marietta, GA, to downtown Atlanta, to serve the children at the Fuqua BGC.

"They operate with genuine love and the kids love them!" says Mary Newton, CATCH coordinator.

CATCHing Up with the Mayor of Atlanta

In Summer 2013, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, the Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students, First Book, Jumpstart for Young Children, CATCH Healthy Habits Atlanta, and the Corporation for National and Community Service, partnered with the Children’s Museum of Atlanta to host the Let’s Read, Let’s Move event to kick off the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club.

CATCH volunteers and staff join Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed to promote summer reading and fitness at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta
CATCH Healthy Habits Atlanta played a major role in this event. CATCH volunteers Dianne Solomon and Rosa Wannamaker engaged children in several fitness activities, and staffed a display table that featured examples of healthy food choices for children and their parents. The event was part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s summer initiative to create opportunities for Americans to use service as a tool to promote physical activity, healthy eating, and to prevent losing academic ground during the summer.
