Volunteers Wanted!

Active Generations

For today's children, going outside to play is rivaled by less attractive alternatives: television, computers and video games.  The result is a costly, dangerous health care epidemic: childhood obesity.  Obesity rates among children ages 6-11 have more than tripled in the last 30 years!

You can help! Become an Active Generations volunteer in the initial phase of this health initiative which will take place in the M.S.D. Washington Township after-school program and introduce children to healthy changes that can last a lifetime.  You will receive training and support to lead fun games and exercises, share healthy snacks and educate kids about food choices.

Call Mary Dorney at (317) 253-1951.

Intergenerational Tutoring Program

Work one-on-one with a 5-9 year old child, one hour, one day per week in a variety of area elementary schools.  Teaching experience is not necessary.  Some of our participating school districts are:

Brownsburg Community School Corporation
Greenwood Community School Corporation
Hamilton Southeastern Schools
M.S.D. of Lawrence, Perry, Pike, Warren, Washington and Wayne Townships

Call Rita Covely at (317) 291-5033 for more information.
