Faculty Highlights
NiNi Harris is a phenomenal author and historian. She has published eight books on St. Louis history and architecture, and more than 600 articles on the subject. Her latest works include Historic Photos of The Gateway Arch published in 2009, Unyielding Spirit, The History of the Polish People of St. Louis published in 2007, and Bohemian Hill, An American Experience, published in 2004. The Guidebook to Tower Grove Park and A History of Carondelet are also St. Louis favorites.  NiNi also leads walking tours based on her original research. Harper Barnes, a longtime editor and critic for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, is the author of Never Been a Time: The 1917 Race Riot that Sparked the Civil Rights Movement. The book, a history of the World War I-era race riot in East St. Louis, was published in July of 2008 by Walker & Co. The book was named the Best Non-Fiction Book of the Year for 2008 by The Truth About the Fact, an international journal of narrative non-fiction based at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
 
Drs. Charles and Elizabeth Schmitz are renowned love and marriage
experts and multiple award-winning authors. Dr. Charles D. Schmitz is the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a long-time Professor of Counseling and Family Therapy at three major universities.  Dr. Elizabeth A. Schmitz is a full-time writer and lecturer. She has served as an award-winning administrator and educator for 36 years. She is president of Successful Marriage Reflections, LLC. Together, The Schmitz’s have written the award-winning book, Golden Anniversaries: The Seven Secrets of Successful Marriage, and are popular speakers and talk show guests. Their next book, Building a Love That Lasts, will be published in February 2010.
