Why is OASIS the address for curious, engaged, and active adults in Albuquerque? Read on….
Challenged to Dig Deeper – OASIS Lifelong Learning. We must be doing something right: in 2012, we enrolled the largest number of participants ever. We served 1,963 students, a 10% increase from 2011. We will continue to bring you new topics and challenge you to dig deeper into areas you thought you knew.
Making a Difference – The Intergenerational Tutoring Project. OASIS combats illiteracy by tapping older adults to reach at-risk children in the primary grades. In the 2012-13 school year, 96 volunteers were paired with students in the Albuquerque Public Schools and the Rio Rancho School District. OASIS is committed to offering meaningful volunteer opportunities to make a difference in our community.
Making History – The Veterans History Project. As of June 30, 2013, OASIS had interviewed 513 veterans in the Albuquerque area. These interviews are now part of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, which is creating a digital archive of the oral histories for educational purposes.
We Need Your Continuing Support! 79% of our budget goes to running these three wonderful programs. But only 59% of our revenues come from class fees. How do we make ends meet? Through your gifts to Albuquerque OASIS. You can make a gift by check or online at www.oasisnet.org/albuquerque
Thank you for your support.
