Myrtle Keller loves watching her students learn. A retired physician and nun who served in Africa and Mexico, she found a new way to share her gifts as an OASIS tutor.
“My admiration for my two students knows no bounds-they may mingle their vowels and some consonants with Spanish, but the very fact that they can make sense of the English that they're reading gives me goose bumps.”

Aines Maza found health, fitness and friends at OASIS in San Antonio.
“I'm 64 years ‘young’ and I taught third grade in a public school for 33 years. I took early retirement at 59 and never regretted it! Now I have time for all the wonderful things I always dreamed of." Betty Chambers is excited about her new computer skills. An active, outgoing person who enjoys being involved in her community, she is taking OASIS Connections classes at the WLCAC Bradley Senior Center.

Chris Wingert isn't finished learning or creating. A wife, mother, grandmother and realtor, she volunteers much of her time to civic and arts organizations in the Escondido area.
Her book, A Bucket Full of Love, is one of two she’s written for children about the subject of divorce. And she makes time for OASIS classes that encourage her desire to create.

Hiram Wilbourne is moving with confidence since taking a Free From Falls class in Los Angeles.
“I think I should know my body better than anybody else,” he says. “If we educate ourselves, we’ll be able to look after our own health better. That’s why I stay active and take so many OASIS health classes.”

Sarah Ellington likes a challenge. As a volunteer instructor for OASIS Connections computer classes in Marietta, Georgia, Sarah has taught several classes on computers, Internet and using email.

Pitt Warner still plays the drums. "It's just something I've always done," he says, recalling his days playing for Glenn Miller-style bands out of Toronto.
A retired schoolteacher, Pitt also enjoys photography. and taking classes at San Diego OASIS with his wife. "It's become our outlet for getting out of the house together and learning something together." Meet Pitt Warner.

Meet Jean Somlo. Jean taught art in public schools for more than 30 years and loved it. But she says her role as an instructor for art courses at OASIS in Syracuse NY is the best job she’s ever had.
