Active Generations: Together, we’ll get kids moving again

Through Active Generations, older adults are engaged in the fight against childhood obesity. We pair teams of adults age 50+ with kids in grades 3 to 5. Classes meet once a week for 8 weeks.

Active Generations incorporates CATCH: Coordinated Approach to Child Health, a program proven to increase healthy behaviors in children.  Our volunteers work with the children by leading or supporting lessons, vigorous physical activity and a healthy snack.

We have lots of ways for you to help!

New classes will start in Albany, St. Louis, San Diego, Los Angeles, Escondido, Cleveland, Lakewood and Indianapolis. Learn more about how you can help.

  • “Mr. Bob” was one of the first volunteers for the Active Generations program in Escondido.  He liked the idea of introducing children to healthy choices; his wife said he needed a reason to “go out and play with the children”.
  • Ashlee, of St. Louis, after completing the Active Generations program, proudly told her family “I learned milk is the healthiest thing for my bones!”

Kids need more exercise!  You want to make a difference!  Together, we’ll get kids moving again and eating healthier!
