OASIS tutors are a child's best friend

"Every child should have a mentor," says Esther Taylor of San Antonio. "These children need individual attention, and someone to listen to them read." If you can read, you're qualified to be an OASIS tutor! according to Philip White and his tutor recruiting allies. “I didn’t realize how extensive my role would become, but it’s very rewarding" says Sharon Fine, volunteer coordinator in the west San Fernando Valley.

“Tutoring has given me the chance to share with the children what I’ve learned through my world travels, says David Bloom of Long Beach.
“Each child I have had has been different,” says Don Dempsey of St. Louis, who uses different strategies to spark enthusiasm for reading.
"What else can be so much fun, so rewarding and so easy?" Madge Klassen of Denver says tutoring has been a valuable experience for her and for the children.
