2011 Annual Report: Mining our Richest Resource

Throughout our 30-year history, volunteers have been essential to our mission of promoting successful aging. They have shaped the programs we offer and our impact on the community.  The lives they touch include young children, working people and adults in all stages of retirement.  Research shows that in serving their communities, they are leading happier, healthier lives.

Active Start is a unique program for adults over 50 who are inactive and do not feel confident about starting an exercise program. Participants learn ways to be active in their daily lives, and behavior change strategies to help maintain their new healthy habits. After completing the program, participants have greater confidence and improved physical abilities, inspiring them to join other physical activity programs.
