The OASIS Institute in St. Louis directs the national OASIS network. The Institute establishes and supports each program in the following ways:

• Identifies and contracts with primary sponsors in each city


• Trains program directors


• Provides fundraising guidance and assistance


• Organizes the opening of each program


• Maintains standards for program quality


• Provides ongoing management and technical assistance


• Develops, tests and disseminates curricula and training for educational and volunteer programs


• Hosts an annual conference for directors and sponsors


• Publishes information about successful projects around the country


• Conducts research on the needs and interests of older adults
