Four New Directors Elected to the Board of The OASIS Institute

ST. LOUIS - June 21, 2006 - The OASIS Institute Board of Directors elected Steven N. Blair of The Cooper Institute, David W. Clark and Thomas G. Cody of Federated Department Stores and Andrew Ziskind of Barnes-Jewish Hospital to the Board in May, 2006.

Steven N. Blair, P.E.D, is president and CEO of The Cooper Institute in Dallas. He is an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina, the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, the University of North Texas and the University of Houston. He is a past president of the National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity, the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education. His research focuses on the associations between lifestyle and health, with a specific emphasis on exercise, physical fitness, body composition, and chronic disease.
David W. Clark was named senior vice president for human resources at Federated Department Stores in 2002. Prior to this appointment, Clark was vice president with responsibilities for executive and organizational development, diversity, training, compensation, benefits and selling services. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Clark began his career with Federated in 1978 at Lazarus in Columbus, Ohio and has held positions in distribution, employee relations, human resources, customer service and corporate training.
Thomas G. Cody was elected in 2003 as vice chair of Federated Department Stores with responsibility for legal and human resources, internal audit, external affairs and the company's philanthropic activities. Previously, he served as executive vice president for legal and human resources since May 1988. From 1982 to 1988, Cody held the position of senior vice president for law and public affairs for Federated. Prior to joining Federated, he spent six years with Pan American World Airways, Inc. as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary.
Andrew Ziskind, M.D., was appointed president of Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis in May 2005. The largest hospital in Missouri, Barnes-Jewish is a 1,374-bed affiliated teaching hospital of the School of Medicine at Washington University Medical Center. Before coming to Barnes-Jewish, Ziskind was vice dean for clinical affairs at the University of Washington UW School of Medicine. A cardiologist, Ziskind held previous appointments at the University of Maryland as vice president of clinical services, director of the Heart Center, and director of Managed Care.

Mr. Cody and Mr. Clark have been extremely supportive as Federated Department Stores has committed to continue the national partnership with OASIS that began with the May Department Stores Company over 20 years ago. With their guidance OASIS will be even better positioned to expand our lifelong learning and civic engagement opportunities for people age 50 and older."
