-
Why do you have to be 50 to take OASIS classes?
OASIS was created in St. Louis, MO, in 1982 to help meet the need for intellectually
stimulating educational programs for older adults. National and local sponsors support

Everything. Unlike many other non-profit organizations, OASIS is managed almost totally by
committed, trained volunteers. OASIS staff includes more than 300 volunteers and only 2 full time equivalent paid staff. Volunteers do such things as manage the front desk, plan and teach classes and
register new members. For information on volunteer opportunities click here or contact Shirley Kirkpatrick at skirkpatrick@peacehealth.org.
-
What is the OASIS Intergenerational Tutoring Program?
OASIS tutors work as mentors with first through third grade students in local schools in six area school districts. Tutors work to enhance the children's academic success and self-esteem by providing literacy and language acquisition fundamentals in the context of an award winning curriculum designed by OASIS Institute. Tutors are trained twice a year, and work in Eugene, Springfield, Harrisburg, Junction City, Pleasant Hill and South Lane schools.
Contact Pat Rankin at prankin@peacehealth.org for more information.

How do you find OASIS instructors?
OASIS instructors are experts in their subject areas within the arts, humanities, health/fitness,
