Games and Puzzles: Spoonful of Sugar
What could be more fun than learning while you're having a blast? "Spoonful of Sugar," a collection of 8 games (word parchesi, bingo, etc.) and 6 puzzles (hidden words, crosswords, match-ups, etc.) provides lots of opportunity to practice work skills and letter recognition, while building confidence and self-esteem at the same time! It's amazing how many children can beat their tutors at these fun activities. [No book needed for this activity.]
Magic School Bus Gets Recycled Plan
"Going Green" is in the news daily these days. Saving our planet and being good citizens are two concepts you can reinforce with your student by sharing this packet about recycling, and by talking about the the changes that are occuring in the environment. You many even come up with a list of ideas that you and your student could present to his class to get other students involved in making their environment a better place to work and learn.
