Science Across the Generations
Ten OASIS cities are participating in Science Across the Generations, an intergenerational
program in hands-on science, mathematics and technology. The project is funded by a grant from the
National Science Foundation to the SPRY Foundation, a nonprofit research and education organization. The OASIS Institute is a major subcontractor in the grant.
SPRY and the Institute have developed education modules on a variety of topics including
birds and beaks, the wind, the moon, music, gardening, airplanes and animal behavior.
All of the modules are based on national science education standards.
Volunteers are needed for programs in OASIS centers, schools, museums and libraries. Participating cities include:
Akron, OH
Chicago (Northbrook), IL
Escondido/North County, CA
Gaithersburg, MD
Indianapolis, IN
Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ
Portland, OR
San Antonio, TX
San Diego, CA
St. Louis, MO
Some of the Science activities are now available here. Try them with your grandchild or another
curious young person in your life.
