Find the right Medicare plan for your needs
Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people who are 65 and older, and some people under 65 with certain disabilities. It is the largest health insurance program in the U.S. You can find information about what Medicare covers and how to sign up at Medicare.gov.
Once you become eligible for Medicare, you have a seven month window to sign up for benefits. Enrollment continues year-round for people who are turning 65 and newly-eligible for Medicare.
Medicare Open Enrollment starts October 15 and continues through December 7 for anyone over 65. During open enrollment you can make changes to your Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) or Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D). Any changes that you make to your Medicare coverage during Open Enrollment will take effect on January 1 of the following year.
