Honor, Reflect, & Refresh: Celebrate Veterans Day at the Hollywood Canteen

Oasis and the Center of Clayton invite you celebrate veterans and active members of the military.

Join us on Friday, November 9th from 10:30 am – 1:00 pm at the Center of Clayton. Pay special tribute to the men and women who keep us safe! This year’s theme is Honor, Reflect, and Refresh: A Celebration of Veterans Day at the Hollywood Canteen. Make plans to participate in this FREE event filled with music, speakers, and a light lunch.

“Oasis and the Center of Clayton are proud to honor our veterans and active military and to be able to offer this free event again. Our freedom and safety are due to their bravery and sacrifice. We hope you will join us to thank them on November 9th,” stated Oasis Community Outreach Manager Sharon Hales.

Entertainment includes patriotic songs by members of the United States Air Force Mid-America Band and songs from the 1940s by the Jeweltones. In addition, distinguished speakers will tell stories of St Louisans and WWI, the Honor Flight, the Legacy Program and the untold story of Corporal Thomas Naud, the Friends of Jefferson Barracks and the American Legion poppy flower history.

Featured speakers include: Dan Fuller, Bellefontaine Cemetery Arboretum Event Coordinator; Jim Pettit, retired Air Force Captain; Greta Hamilton, National Cemetery Scheduling Office Assistant Director; John Chapman, Jefferson Barracks President; Betty Altnether, retired Coast Guard.
