Across the country, thousands of adults 50+ experience successful aging by participating with Oasis through lifelong learning, healthy living and social engagement. They are tutors, office volunteers, class participants and donors. Their stories are the Oasis story.
At 97, Vida Hicks (right) stays involved in Oasis by taking part in a PepSteppers workout class at our Baldwin Hills location in Los Angeles. In St. Louis, Mary McFerson, 59, serves as a CATCH Healthy Habits volunteer, teaching children about exercise and healthy food choices. And in San Diego, 71-year-old Judy says that Oasis is her home (and family) away from home.
As we approach the holiday season, many of us think of shared meals, families and gift giving. The end of the year is also a great time to consider giving back to the community, through donations of time, financial support or both.
With over 1.5 million registered nonprofit organizations in the United States, the opportunities for generosity are ample. We are thankful that so many continue to give to Oasis. This support demonstrates a shared commitment to the value of successful aging. The impact of our programs is undeniable. How do we know? You are telling us!
“Oasis allows me to share my love of learning and give children the extra help they need to succeed.” Bev Miller, Syracuse Oasis.
The Friends of Oasis annual giving campaign is underway. We are thankful to everyone who has already given! If you are still considering the best way to give your financial support to Oasis, visit us online at www.oasisnet.org/donate. We appreciate the opportunity to be among your charitable priorities.
