What do these things have in common?

They each take two people.  We call it the “Friend Factor.”

If you have a friend who is missing out on all that Oasis offers, be a Hero and invite them to join you for a class.

We’ll make it worth your while:
  • The member who brings in the most NEW members who actually take a class will be in the Top 10 Hero List that will be posted in the lobby and in the catalog
  • Hero Members will earn class credits
  • Hero Members will earn gift cards ($100 1st prize, $50 2nd prize, $25 3rd prize)
  • Special Reception for new Friends and their Hero
When registering for their first class, your friend will need to indicate who referred them so that you get the appropriate credit:
  • IN PERSON: Provide them with a “My Friend is a Hero” card that they can present when registering.
  • PHONE: They can simply provide your name if registering over the phone.
  • ON-LINE: When registering on line, click the “How Did You Hear About Oasis?” and they will be able to enter your name.
Pick up fliers and “My Friend is a Hero” referral cards at the Lifelong Learning Center, the Wellness Center and the Escondido location beginning Tuesday.

Contest runs from January 15 - March 15, 2018.

January 2018 Classes

By request from our members, we are trying something new:  instead of a long list of classes to scroll through, we are selecting just a few from each of our Oasis locations, but including a printable calendar for the month. Take a look and then let us know if this works better for you. We want to make this communication as informative and convenient as possible for our members.

I am thrilled to announce that Sarah (Cushman) Beaupre is re-joining our team in a new position as Development Associate, starting January 16, 2018. Sarah will be working with Jolyn Parker to bring resources to San Diego Oasis. Sarah will be finishing her Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Fund Development and implementing new ideas and programs to help Oasis grow and prosper.

With tremendous gratitude, I am wishing Sheva Roth a wonderful journey, to Bali and beyond. Sheva has brought her wonderful smile and an all-welcome aura every day for almost three years, and has built the best volunteer team this organization has ever had. With gratitude for her hard work and talents, we wish her the best in exploring new direction in life and work. Sheva’s last day will be January 12, 2018.

Donna Flynn, our Tutor Coordinator in Chula Vista, is getting ready for a full time job. We are grateful to Donna for her expertise as an educator, her extensive local network within the school system in South County, and her genuine care for the Oasis Tutoring Program these past five years. We will miss her very much and thank her for her service to the students, the older adults and our Oasis team. Donna’s last day will be January 15, 2018.

We are here to answer any questions, so please feel free to drop in, call us, or send me an email.

Warmly,
