The Park Avenue Community Center (a.k.a. Escondido Senior Center) is experiencing a temporary closure of its main building due to flood damage from a broken water heater. As a result, our San Diego Oasis North County location was seriously affected, as this is where we host most of our North County Inland classes. Although we will be able to host classes at other locations throughout North County over the next few months, it has been an unanticipated and costly move. If you would like to help,
please give online at www.SanDiegoOasis.org/donate or mail your financial support to San Diego Oasis 5500 Grossmont Center Drive, Suite 269 La Mesa, CA 91942. We will also need Oasis Ambassadors to help us at some of these various sites where we will be hosting classes, so if you are interested in volunteering your time, please contact David Beevers at (760) 796-6020. |
One great benefit of San Diego Oasis is the number of off-site locations we offer. There are more than 40 locations throughout San Diego county where members can enjoy a variety of classes. We are looking for additional Library Ambassador Volunteers, especially in North County, who can help enrich the offsite class experience for existing and potential new members. You will learn about the Library Ambassador role and benefits and rewards of being one of our volunteers. Please contact Amy O’Connor at (619) 881-6262 or at amy@sandiegooasis.org if you are interested in attending one of these upcoming information training sessions: |

School systems generally promote a college-going culture for all students, however, statistics indicate that while 61% of high school students enter college in California, only 55% will complete a two-year degree and less than 30% will actually complete their bachelor's degree.
We would love your feedback! |

At San Diego Oasis, we are looking into how we can address the issue of educating students about alternative possibilities of lucrative and respectable career choices that are available in the workplace. Students are often unaware that skilled trades can provide a successful career with excellent pay and benefits, whether working for a company or as an entrepreneur. |

Many skilled workers have discovered that in retirement they find themselves wishing to continue working and finding meaningful purposeful activities to keep them engaged and active. Creating a mentoring program would enable them to fulfill their desire to share the skills that they have developed over their lifetime, and in many cases, made a career doing. Many desire to inspire young people to consider careers in these important skilled professions. | ||
If this describes you, we would appreciate learning the trades in which you have been involved. Click the "Start Survey" button to get started. It's quick...just a few questions. Thank you! |
