Open House TableIn 2017, Oasis welcomed a new partner to the network.

WISE & Healthy Aging became the sponsoring organization for the Oasis center in Los Angeles (formerly known as Pacific Region Oasis). The center now operates under a new name, Los Angeles Oasis.

“The educational programs and opportunities for volunteer engagement that have made Oasis a nationally-respected community resource for more than 33 years will remain an integral part of what we offer,” says WISE & Healthy Aging CEO Grace Cheng Braun. “Our collaboration increases operational efficiency and provides for even more services to advance the quality of life for the older adults in Los Angeles County.  We are excited to work with the volunteer leaders, instructors, Oasis participants and partnering agencies in continuing programing.”

WISE & Healthy Aging, a social services organization headquartered in Santa Monica, California, has been serving Los Angeles communities for more than four decades.  With regional offices in Van Nuys, Pasadena, Montebello and Lakewood, the organization administers the City & County of Los Angeles Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program and Elder Abuse Prevention Services, including a wide range of other services on the westside such as adult day care, caregiver support and training, in-home care management services, transportation, senior healthy lunches, senior recreational programming, mental health services, peer counseling and support groups.

“Bringing together two organizations that lead the field of aging with distinction and experience will have enormous impact going forward,” says The Oasis Institute President Paul Weiss. “This partnership provides more stability for Oasis in Los Angeles and enhances our ability to deliver our most popular and impactful programs.  The administrative support, leadership and new program-partnership opportunities will expand the depth and breadth of successful aging resources for older adults.”
